Pappas house update continued

Roof trusses are going up today (Wed. Sept. 30) Look at that big crane in action.

A HUGE crane was lifting the trusses into place. These guys really know what they're doing but it still looked scary at times.

Earlier in the week as they were doing interior framing. Fun to see rooms taking shape.

Fun in Maine

I seem to always get my pictures in reverse order so bear with me. We got to see a big navy ship that had just been built by Bath Iron Works launched down the Kennebec River. It was cool beyond belief (also raised those patriotic feelings we get sometimes when we hear the Star Spangled Banner:) The above picture shows it headed out to sea



Here's the ship right out in front of us as it passes.

And here's the ship coming down river toward us (John and Betti, that's Popham Fort to the left where we took you when you visited.)

The above is a beautiful view out into the harbor across the golf course that we pass on our morning walks.

Cate has taken to calling Jay, Papou, which is Greek for Grandpa. A few weeks ago we went to a Greek Festival in Lewiston, Maine, and I couldn't resist getting her this T-shirt that says "My Papou loves me." I must also mention that Cate loved dancing to the Greek music at the festival.


When the Fraases came to visit, we took them to Popham Beach; and Betti and I got our photos taken. It was great having good friends for a visit. Come back soon!

Our place to live until the house is done

Lindsay saves the day! She asked at her school if anyone knew of someplace her parents could live until their house was done. (It's getting a bit chilly at the cottage: 38 degrees this morning!) The art teacher is on a sabbatical until Dec 10 and has graciously allowed us to basically house sit at her home by the ocean. (Google Sebasco Resorts and you'll get a good idea of our new neighborhood.) We could never afford to live in a place/location like this so we are going to thoroughly enjoy the next 3 months.
