December 24: house updates bedroom/baths

The above two pics are the guest bathroom. Come visit and see for yourself:)
Ceiling fan got installed in the master bedroom. No airconditioning in Maine.
Our master closet is nice and roomy: for all Jay's clothes (I'm not kidding).
The master bath. No, the vanity is not blue. It's just still partially shrink wrapped to protect from scratches.

House update Dec 18

Our kitchen cupboards are being installed. They're maple with a natural finish.
The hardwood in the hallways and kitchen/dining area went in today. It's hickory. We thought it made a nice contrast to the relative plainness of the cupboards.
That door in the middle is the pantry. Frig will be to the right of that.
Couldn't figure out how to turn this pic around. That's our front door. You can see some of the hardwood floor but it's covered with paper for protection. Hall closet is on the left.
This is the flooring in the master bath. It's the same in the second bath and the laundry room.

If you stand on our front porch, this was the view this morning.
Front porch. Rather messy but you get the idea. A little more siding to go (the green part) and more work on porch posts, railing, etc. But we have front steps. No more climbing up a ladder to get into the house.
Look at that blue sky. Sort of made up for the fact it was single digit temps.
All the Christmas decorations we could manage for this year:)

Cate's Gymnastics

Cate has been taking tumbling classes at the YMCA. She loves the bar: hanging, swinging, and then giving the victory sign. I'm amazed at how she can hold her own body weight and swing from the bar. So strong for almost two:)

Off to get the Christmas tree.

House pics - Nov. Part 1

Drywall going in the great room. To the right is the slider onto the porch. In the center are the windows at the end of the room. Straight ahead is the window to the right of the fireplace.

The front porch is getting finished. Those shakes on the bottom of the posts will be painted to match the siding when the weather warms up next summer:)

Updated house pics of doors and porch - November Part 2

This shows the side door in the walk-out part of the basement. Jay is so excited that he'll be able to take things in and out of the basement without having to go through the house. Rick is wondering if the doors are big enough to park his boat down there:)

I love my new front door. This pic was taken before it was sealed and the black hardware installed but you get the idea.
Most of the siding was on in this pic so you can see the color. A nice med taupe contrasted with white trim.
This, folks, is where I'll be spending a lot of my time. Reading my books, gazing into the woods:)
