In Memory of Our Dog Ellie

Ellie, our beloved Border Collie: 1996-2009

Happy days in Maine
Loving family time with Zach and Laurie

Just wanted all to know we had to put our beloved Border Collie Ellie to sleep Saturday night. We are heartbroken. She got sick suddenly, but it turned out to be serious. We were with her to the end, and she didn't suffer but died peacefully. Those of you who are dog lovers know how hard it is to lose a pet. We got her when she was about 6-8 weeks old, Laurie carried her home in a basket, and she would have been 13 in a few months. She gave us so many years of love and companionship. Before we had her (I didn't have pets growing up), I never realized how attached you could get to a dog. I guess everyone thinks her pet is special, but to us she really was the best. Her only bad habit was chewing up tissues in the waste basket. She never chewed anything else, never begged for food, rarely barked. She loved people but was scared of other dogs. We always thought she didn't really realize that she was one. Most people who knew her also realized she was one of a kind. On the few occasions we had to board her, the kennel lady always laughed at what a "lady" she was. She was so smart, and she loved to play frizbee, swim in the lake in Maine, take walks, and go anywhere we went. Just so we didn't leave her behind. She was the best dog anyone could ever ask for, and we will always miss her. She will always have a piece of our hearts.
